Quick Advise when flying with VAL
Use carry-on bags, this reduces the time spent at the airport and the chances that your belongings are lost, stolen, or damaged.
Remove straps or other protrusions that could get caught in belts or carts.
Make your checked bags easy to inspect . Check with the TSA at www.TSA.gov for details.
Personalized your bags to make them easy to identify.
Make sure tags are attached by the gate agent to each piece and ensure that you and your bag are going to the same destination airport.
Put valuables and critical items in your carry-on bags.
Keep fragile items out of checked luggage
Keep camera film out of checked bags.
Pack your carry-on bags so that you will be able to survive for 48 hours at your destination without your checked bags.
Check your bags after arrival. If there is a problem, make sure you contact your airline as soon as possible.
Keep the laptop with your carry-on baggage. Secure the laptop with passwords. Keep the laptop in sight.
Compensation for Lost Baggage- We will not pay more than $100.00 per occurrence per ticket. Claims have to be made before leaving the arrival gate.
You should know:
We are prepared to handle your baggage with professionalism. Your luggage will be transported on conveyor belts and baggage carts and may encounter weather conditions such as rain, wind or sun light. And will move and shift during take off, flight and landing. Tag your bag with your information outside and inside. Valuables and Medications should be place in a small personal carry on bag.
At the check in when we tag your baggage we will provide you with a claim check. Please make sure the bags are being checked to the appropriate destination. At your destination make sure you have your luggage before leaving the Airport.
Carry-On/Hand Luggage: Baggage in Cabin Seats is not allowed. Carry-on will luggage weight will be added to your checked luggage weight. Any hand luggage will be examined at the check in and our ramp agent will instruct you to place it in a luggage compartment before boarding.

Baggage Allowance/Acceptance/Checked Baggage: Each passenger can bring a maximum weight of
Excess Baggage: Additional charges will apply when you bring more than
25 pounds. The transportation of excess luggage is limited to space available. You will be notified if your excess luggage will not travel with you.
Overweight Baggage: Not OK bags will exceed 50 lbs.
Fishing Equipment: We accept fishing equipment. It most be packed in hard side case. A limited release tag is required.
Unusually shaped objects: Large pieces or sporting equipment exceed the capacity of the compartments and are not accepted for transport. Empty scuba tanks have to be inform during reservations and will travel on space availability only.
Golf Bags: We accept closed golf bags .A limited release tag is required.
Pets: We accept 1 pet kennel per aircraft. Reservations are required. Health certificates, dated within 10 days of travel, are required in the Caribbean. They can not exceed 20 pounds.
Hazardous Material: Do not pack; poisons, solvents, household chemicals, camping equipment with fuel or Sterno, pressurized containers such as propane tanks, scuba tanks, CO2 cartridges, self inflating devices, fireworks, signal flares, excessive ammunition, gunpowder, mace, tear gas or similar items.
Dangerous/Hazardous Items: Items defined as hazardous or dangerous; knives, mace, pepper spray, tear gas and brass knuckles are not allowed to be placed in your hand bag.
Handguns: Security Personnel will inspect documents and licenses to carry a hand gun. You must check in any handguns. They most travel in a locked suitcase. The counter agent will visually inspect that all ammunitions are removed before accepting bags with hand guns. Any ammunition will travel in a separate locked suitcase. Any on Duty official will travel with the On-duty Rules. The officer most inform when reserving that will be traveling on duty.
Claims: Most delayed baggage arrives within 24 hours and during this initial period. Baggage that is delayed or damaged should be reported, in person, before leaving the airport.

Liability-We are happy to transport your fragile items but we cannot accept liability for it. Please let us know in advance of any item you may be concern for extra caution and consideration.
Normal wear and tear: Luggage is designed to protect its contents. Vieques Air Link , Inc. can not be liable for minor exterior damage; scratches, scuffs, stains, dents, cuts and dirt resulting from normal wear and tear of baggage.
Always retain your ticket and claim check receipts and any receipts for expenses you may be able to collect.

Items prohibited on Vieques Air Link flights
Not OK household items: bleaches, drain cleaners and solvents contain dangerous chemicals which can cause toxic fumes and corrosion.
Not OK flammable liquids: fuel, paints, solvents, adhesives, alcoholic beverages higher than 140 proof and flammable gases such as lighter refills and camping gas might leak and cause a fire.
Not OK fireworks: signal flares and other explosives which might detonate due to their sensitive nature.
Not OK other hazardous materials: strike-anywhere matches, gasoline-powered tools, spray cans, self-inflating rafts, wet-cell batteries, poisons, infectious substances, mace and pepper spray.
Not OK oxygen tanks.

*Only wheelchairs with certain types of batteries will be accepted. We can provide you a wheelchair at the gate for arrival and departures, your personal wheelchair will travel as cargo on your same flight. You most request this when making your reservation and at the check in.
